Inside my studio bubble I’m home. I’m safe. But the challenge of shooting on-location is something I enjoy.
I always get a lot of questions when a client first books a brand photo or video shoot, one of which is “Where do you typically shoot?” And for most it does make sense to shoot within my bright, white studio where a changing room is around the corner and we can style the space to your needs.
But I wanted to offer up a collection of some unique locations I discovered around Pittsburgh that may be perfectly aligned with your visual branding desires.
*Please note that while a location collaboration is certainly an option, it’s not a guarantee. An additional fee may be associated with shooting professional photography at these locations.
1. Valliant’s Diner - 3418 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237
With the charm of a 1950s era diner, Valliant’s is the perfect place for someone looking for a spunky and fun backdrop especially if food is a big part of your brand. But even if it’s not the eatery has plenty of natural light with big picture windows, brightly colored interior, and all the charm of a time when life was a little less chaotic and a lot more fun.

2. Living by BridgeStreet Town Place - 424 Stanwix St, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222
From vintage charm to modern and chic, Town Place is one of downtown Pittsburgh’s newest luxury apartment communities that conveniently doubles as hotel accommodations. The spaces feature modern and funky furniture and floor to ceiling panaromic windows, but one of the best features is the rooftop deck! With so many different backdrops for a photo shoot this location is perfect for a professional looking to uplevel.

3. Madeleine Bakery and Bistro - 609 S Trenton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15221
A unique spin on the classic “coffee shop/laptop lifestyle” brand photo shoot that we all know and love, Madeleine Bakery and Bistro has a beautiful Parisian influence that really sets it apart. The blue door and quaint dining area makes it such a welcoming space for anyone with a laid back and cozy feel to their brand. I imagine copywriters, bloggers, and lifestyle coaches being able to tell their wonderful stories in this setting.

Within Pittsburgh city limits is the perfect garden hideaway that is so picturesque. Featuring gardens, a meditation hut, river dock, and small cottage, this serene location would be the perfect backdrop for someone looking for a calm, peaceful, and natural vibe for their brand like someone in the beauty or health and wellness industry.
